My research focuses primarily on families and intimate relationships, everyday life, homes and design, inequalities, education, community-based projects, childhood and parenthood, and popular culture. Information about my peer-reviewed academic research can be accessed here. My community-based research has involved projects listed here. My general interest writing (e.g., guest blog posts) can be accessed here. My current projects on second homes and research methods for architects and designers are described here.
I have taught courses or offered research advising at Whitman College, The University of Notre Dame, St. Olaf College, The Danish Institute for Study Abroad, and in the Centre for Women’s Studies at the University of York (England). More about my teaching in sociology and interdisciplinary fields can be found here. And a series of short lectures I created about COVID-19 impacts on society can be found here.
